Consignment Process


Consignor Guidelines

To ensure a smooth and efficient consignment process, please follow the guidelines below:

Appointment Limits:

  • Each consignment appointment is limited to one medium-sized bag of items.
  • Please refrain from bringing items in garbage bags, boxes, bins, or on hangers.

Acceptable Items:

  • We accept items that are in-season, in-style, and in like-new condition.
  • Please review your items thoroughly before bringing them in.
  • Refer to our "What We Do & Do Not Accept" tab for guidance.

Non-Acceptable Items:

  • Items must be clean, undamaged, and in good condition (i.e., not over-worn or stained).
  • Items with stains, broken zippers, rips, tears, fading, pilling, or excessive animal hair, as well as those that are outdated or out-of-season, will either be returned to you or donated.
  • Please consult our "What We Do & Do Not Accept" page to ensure your items meet our criteria before consigning.

Laundering:

  • Ensure all items are freshly laundered with a mild-scented detergent.
  • Please fold the items neatly before bringing them in.

Your cooperation with these guidelines helps streamline the consignment process. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to reviewing your items!

Consignment Process

  • During your 20-minute appointment, we will review and sort your items. Any items we believe are not a good fit for our store will be returned to you at the end of the appointment.
  • Items accepted for consignment will be available on the sales floor within 1–3 weeks. Please note that once accepted, items cannot be returned for at least 30 days. Items will remain active for 80 days, after which they will expire. However, if expired items have not been removed from the sales floor, they may still be sold, and you will receive your share of the proceeds.
  • Once your items are ready for sale, we will create an inventory list associated with your account. Please note that Young’n Thrifty determines the pricing of all items based on factors such as condition, style, and market trends, which may include in-store discounts.

Payment Process

  • As a consignor, you will receive 40% of the selling price of your items. You can choose to receive your earnings as store credit, with an additional 15% bonus, or request a cheque for the payout.
  • To request a payout, please email us at youngthriftyshop@gmail.com. We do not accept payout requests over the phone or in person. Payouts are processed on a monthly basis, and we require a minimum of 10 days prior to the payout date to process your request. Please note that payouts are issued by cheque only, with a $1.50 processing fee. A minimum balance of $15 is required for payouts.
  • Payout Collection: Consignors must collect their payouts within 365 days of the expiration date of their items. Items expire 80 days after they are priced. It is the consignor's responsibility to monitor this timeline and ensure that payouts are collected within the designated period.

Consignment Items: Return or Donation

  • You have the option to have unsold, expired, or damaged items returned to you, provided their resale value is $15 or more. Alternatively, you may choose to donate these items to charity.
  • When completing the Consignor Agreement, you will select whether you prefer to have your items returned or donated. If you select "Return," you will be notified by email when your items are available for pickup. We ask that you pick up your items within one week of notification. Any items not collected within this timeframe will be donated.
  • Items with a resale value of less than $15 will not be returned and will be donated directly to our charity partners.

Donations

Young’n Thrifty is proud to support several local charities, which are listed on our website. If you choose the donation option, your items will be directed to these charitable organizations, helping those in need.

We encourage you to consider donating, as it helps streamline our process and directly supports important causes. Please note that retrieving and organizing clothing, as well as arranging pickups, requires significant effort on our part. Your donation will not only help simplify the process but will also contribute to meaningful charity work.

Liability

Please be advised that Young’n Thrifty is not responsible for any items lost, stolen, or damaged by other patrons. All communication regarding your account will be conducted via email. We are not liable for missed communication due to unsubscribing, providing an incorrect email address, or email settings that prevent you from receiving or viewing our messages.
